Safety & lifespan
Are LiFePO4 lithium car batteries safe?
Yes. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) is the most thermally stable mainstream lithium chemistry — its thermal decomposition temperature is above 500 °C, roughly three times the 120–150 °C of lead-acid batteries. Every ORYXON battery adds a battery management system (BMS) that protects against over-charge, over-discharge, overheating and short circuits, and the range is CE, UN38.3 and RoHS certified. How long does a LiFePO4 car battery last?
ORYXON LiFePO4 batteries exceed 3,000 charge cycles at 50% depth of discharge — three to five times the 300–500 cycles of conventional start-stop batteries (AGM reaches about 800). In practice, one lithium battery can outlast several lead-acid replacements, which is where the real cost saving comes from.
Are lithium car batteries suitable for Singapore’s hot climate?
LiFePO4 chemistry operates across a wide temperature window and only begins thermal decomposition above 500 °C, giving it a far larger safety margin than lead-acid in tropical heat. The BMS also monitors temperature continuously and protects the cells against overheating. See the temperature discharge curves for measured data.
What certifications do ORYXON batteries carry?
The range is CE certified, tested to UN38.3 (the UN standard for safe transport of lithium batteries) and RoHS compliant — free of restricted hazardous substances such as lead and cadmium.
Fitment & compatibility
Can a lithium battery replace my AGM or EFB battery?
Yes. ORYXON batteries are built in standard JIS (Q85/D23, S95/D26) and DIN/EN (H5–H8, LN2–LN5) case sizes with 12.8 V nominal voltage, so they install as direct drop-in replacements for 12 V conventional, EFB and AGM batteries. Match the size code and terminal layout printed on your current battery — or send us a photo.
What battery size does my car need?
Check the label on your current battery:
- Japanese cars — JIS codes such as Q-85 (D23 case) or S-95 (D26 case)
- European / Korean cars — DIN/EN sizes H5/LN2 (240 mm), H6/LN3 (278 mm), H7/LN4 (315 mm) or H8/LN5 (352 mm)
Match the code and terminal layout (L/R), and see the full spec table for dimensions.
Do ORYXON batteries support start-stop (idling stop) systems?
Yes — they are designed specifically as 12 V automotive start-stop/starting batteries. High charge acceptance suits frequent engine restarts, and the higher discharge rate delivers 1,200–1,800 cold cranking amps for instant ignition response.
Does a lithium car battery need a special charger or alternator?
For normal driving, no changes are needed: ORYXON batteries are drop-in replacements for 12 V vehicle systems, and the built-in BMS manages charging and discharging safely. If you use an external bench charger, choose one with a lithium (LiFePO4) mode. For vehicles with unusual charging setups, contact us before installation.
Ownership & buying
What happens if I leave my car parked for weeks?
LiFePO4 self-discharge is less than 1% per month at room temperature, so the battery holds its charge far longer than lead-acid. In addition, ORYXON’s Re-Start technology reserves energy at low charge so the BMS can still provide an emergency start.
How much lighter is a lithium battery than lead-acid?
At equivalent capacity, an ORYXON lithium battery weighs up to about 70% less than a lead-acid battery. Less weight means a small but real improvement in fuel economy and handling.
What is the ORYXON BMS app?
A free companion app for iOS and Android that connects to the battery over Bluetooth. It shows real-time voltage, temperature, state of charge and battery status, so you can check battery health from your phone before problems appear. Download QR codes are on the home page.
