Q85 lithium battery (JIS D23)

A 12.8 V, 40 Ah LiFePO4 drop-in replacement for the Q-85 / D23 start-stop battery used by Japanese cars — with 1,200 cold cranking amps and 3,000+ cycle life.

In one line: the ORYXON LS-40D23L/A and LS-40D23R/A are 12.8 V, 40 Ah lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries in the JIS D23 case (238 × 172 × 200 mm) used by Q-85 start-stop batteries. Each delivers 1,200 cold cranking amps and 512 Wh — replacing a 65 Ah / 750 CCA lead-acid battery with 3–5× the cycle life.

  • 3,000+ cycles at 50% depth of discharge — 3–5× lead-acid life
  • Smart Bluetooth BMS with over-charge, over-discharge, overheat and short-circuit protection
  • Re-Start technology — emergency jump-start reserve at low charge
  • Up to 70% lighter than the lead-acid battery it replaces
  • CE, UN38.3 and RoHS certified

Which cars use a Q85 (D23) battery?

The Q-85 size is the factory start-stop battery for many Japanese makes — most notably Mazda models with i-stop such as the Mazda 2, Mazda 3, Mazda 6, CX-3 and CX-5, as well as selected Toyota, Subaru, Suzuki and Nissan idling-stop models. The L and R versions cover both terminal layouts, so match the code and terminal side printed on your current battery.

Fitment note: vehicle lists are indicative — manufacturers vary battery sizes between markets and model years. Always match the size code and terminal layout on your existing battery, or send us a photo and we’ll confirm before you order.

Q85 lithium battery — FAQ

What does Q85 mean on a car battery?

Q-85 is a JIS designation for start-stop (idling-stop) batteries: the letter Q identifies the D23 case size and terminal type, and 85 is the performance rank — a higher number means higher performance in the same case. ORYXON's Q85 models use the same case, so they install directly in place of the original battery.

Will a Q85 lithium battery work with my car's i-stop system?

Yes. ORYXON Q85 batteries are designed for 12 V automotive start-stop systems. The built-in BMS manages charge acceptance and protects the cells, while the higher discharge rate actually improves restart response compared with a lead-acid battery.

What lead-acid battery does the ORYXON Q85 replace?

Each 40 Ah ORYXON Q85 model performs like a 65 Ah / 750 CCA lead-acid battery, while weighing up to 70% less and lasting 3–5 times longer.
